About S.T.A.G
Some
Transgenders
Are
Guys
Everyone deserves to have a place and a group where they feel safe. It
is our intention to provide such a place and group for female to male
transsexuals.
What is S.T.A.G.?
S.T.A.G. stands for "Some Transgenders Are Guys" and was created in October 2000. It is the only support group in Houston, Texas for female to male transsexuals. The members of S.T.A.G. are a diverse group. There is no discrimination in S.T.A.G. Anyone who is an FTM is welcome. We have people of all age groups. No one who is transgendered will be turned away. If anyone contacts S.T.A.G. who might fit into another group better, S.T.A.G. will assist in finding the right group.
Female to Male?
A female to male transsexual (some prefer to be called M2M) is a person who feels like a man in a woman's body. These people are
uncomfortable with the physical appearance and normal function of the
female body as it pertains to their identity. Such people would like to
change the body to match their perception of who they truly are. If you
feel like this, then you are welcome to join S.T.A.G.
What can S.T.A.G. do for you?
S.T.A.G. is a social and support group. It is our mission to help people
find resources, educational materials, health care, and anything that
will help them deal with the issues of transsexualism.
S.T.A.G. works in conjunction with HACS (Houston Area Community Services) to provide various services such as a TG shelter, clothing, information, education, and it assists in finding medical care and
hormone therapy.
How do you become a member of S.T.A.G.?
We want as many people as possible to join S.T.A.G. Therefore, If you
say you are a member, then you are.
There are no dues required to join S.T.A.G. However, if you want to, you
can contribute in order to help pay for certain things such as printing
brochures, advertising, snacks for the meetings, etc.
The meetings take place on the fourth Saturday of each month at 5:00 PM at the GLBT center which is located at 3400 Montrose, Suite 207 (see homepage for a link to the map). After the meetings, we sometimes like to go out to grab dinner and hang out. You are welcome to bring your friends or significant other to the meetings unless the meeting is a GUYS only meeting. That will be announced on the Yahoo Groups and posted on the homepage.
Welcome to S.T.A.G.
